You always have been, currently are, and will continue to become the combined average of the five people you associate with most… What you may not realize is that one of the five people you associate with most is YOU!
It’s true… Because of your internal dialog (that mental conversation, or self-talk, you have going on in your head), you speak to yourself at the rate of approximately 9,000 to 18,000 words per hour, all day long! That is probably more internal conversation than the combined external conversations with your four other associates combined!
Therefore, be careful with whom you associate, and become keenly aware of the thoughts you have running through your mind. Because if you will change your thinking (and occasionally your associations), you will change your life!
All the best,
MSC
Yes! Even those of us who know this about self-talk, if we really examine what we are thinking and/or saying, may not be as positive as we should be. And it really does make a difference. Just yesterday I caught myself saying something I shouldn’t have, so I spoke out loud to take it back and even did the hand motion to put it back in my mouth, but once it’s out, it’s out!
Thank you, Mr. Clouse, for all you do.
Hi Michael,
Nice blog! Great addition to our resources! I’ll be sure to check back for updates.
Carolyn
Thankyou for this…it is so true and just before I read this blog I was saying the exact same thing to my husband. Just like Rita says “What you think about , you bring about!”
Cheers,
Carol
Nice Blog Micheal,
We absolutely must take control of what we tell ourselves if we want to live happy, thriving lives.

Hi Michael:
What a GREAT opportunity to have these words and thoughts every day. Yes, you can become an excellent marketer as long as you work the business. And most of all, keep looking for people that want prosperity, health, enthusiasm, love life and so on.. This journey is so worth it!
Keep up the GREAT work!
Jackie
As always, wise words that will challenge those who choose to review their associations and perhaps make changes. As parents we often try to steer out children away from certain associations. Associations that may not be in their best interest. But as adults we may not heed the advice we’ve given. As if we, as adults are not susceptible to the negative influences of others or on the positive side, the positive influences of others. Choose the positive and let the negative folks go. Or at least keep them at a safe distance.
Thanks MSC for this great blog!

Michael,
What a wonderful resource your blog is going to be! It will be nice to have a daily reminder of how to “keep the main thing the main thing.” It’s been through my association with this industry that I found out about self-talk and how powerful – either negatively or positively – its effect can be. Thanks for letting us associate with and learn from you daily through this blog.
Kudos,
Dayna
Hi Michael,
Thanks for sending me your blog site. I really don’t feel blogs are the best use of my time–but for yours I will make an exception. It’s good to see your short videos–I miss getting my “MClouse” fix that I got everytime I saw you at seminars …that reminds me I should listen to your CDs again. I love your training style and hope that SendOutCards will call you to speak at their next convention (as I’ve suggested to them). You’re still looking fabulous!
The mind is a powerful thing! It is so easy to let those negative thoughts creep in and to not even be aware of it. Negative thinking is a bad habit and one has to be very aware of what their are thinking and saying to catch themselves. Then they can work on changing their thinking. I have a few people in my life that I have asked to point out to me when they hear me say something negative such as “I am so clumsy, I always……”. That has helped me tremendously!
Thank you Michael for training tools! They have helped me so much!
Great article, Michael. This is so true – I find I am my own critic, and need to constantly monitor the chatter going on in my head. We have read all your books and listened to all your CDs. They have helped tremendously in changing that internal dialogue.
We enjoyed seeing you a couple of weeks ago in Palm Springs, as well. Keep up the great writing, I try to read everything you have written.
Brenda
Michael,
It is always such a pleasure to hear you speak and to be able to read your thoughts! Sincere thanks for all you do for our industry…you are loved and appreciated!
Blessings to you always~
Michael,
You are absolutely right. Your words are some of the truest that I have read and heard. I am opening myself up to attracting the associations that I would prefer. Thank you for being such a great role model/ mentor…
Paul
